We check how much tartar and stain is there and where your gums bleed, then tell you plainly what the clean involves.
- Step 3 The gentle scale and polish
We lift the hard tartar above and below the gumline, then polish off coffee, wine and smoking stains so teeth feel smooth.
- Step 4 Keep it that way
We show you the spots you're missing at home and suggest how often to come back, so small things stay small.

What's the difference between a scale and clean and a check-up?
The clean is the hygiene work. We take off hard tartar and polish off stains, so your teeth feel smooth and your gums settle. A check-up is the exam, where we look for decay and other issues. Our $249 package includes both, but you can come in just for a clean too.
Will the clean hurt or make my gums bleed?
Most people find a clean gentle and easy. If your gums are sore they may bleed a little during the visit, and that settles as they get healthier. Tell us if you're sensitive and we'll go slowly and keep you comfortable.
Can a clean remove my coffee, wine or smoking stains?
A clean lifts surface stains that brushing leaves behind, so teeth usually look brighter and breath feels fresher. Deeper, built-in colour needs whitening, which we can talk you through. Results vary from person to person.
How often should I have a scale and clean?
For most people every six months works well, but it depends on your gums, your stain build-up and habits like smoking. We'll suggest a timing that fits you, not a one-size-fits-all rule.
